69, Richland, died December 10, 2017 at home. Born April 8, 1948 in Johnstown, daughter of Fred and Martha (Walters) Bentz. Preceded in death by parents. Survived by husband, Les, whom she married July 22, 1967; sons Jason (Beth Mikel), Bowling Green, OH; and Justin (Jennifer Jones), Greensburg; and grandchildren, Aubrey, Braden, Clayton, Taylor, Reese, and Addison Knavel. Sister of Gary (Connie Caulfield), Murrysville; and Wilda (Larry Haynes), South Williamsport. Sharon was a faithful member of Liberty Grace Church, where she served many years in the nursery, and supported the church ministry in many other ways. She loved to be around babies and toddlers, and always sought ideas to entertain her grandchildren. Sharon and Les loved to travel and visit the Western National Parks on different occasions. Her favorite vacation spot was St. Simons Island, Georgia. She enjoyed spending time with family and grandchildren, reading, hiking, cross stitching, and playing the piano, which involved many hymns of the Faith. After suffering many years with cancer, Sharons work on earth was completed. Her Heavenly Father has taken her home to spend all eternity with Him. Sharons favorite verse, was Psalm 73:26. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. The Knavel family extends a heart-felt thank you to the staff of Asera Care Hospice, for the care given to Sharon during her illness. Friends received from 2-4 and 6-8pm Wednesday at Henderson Funeral Home-East Hills, 2503 Bedford St. where funeral service will be held Thursday at 11am, with Pastor Doug Black officiating. Interment, Thomas Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions be made to Liberty Grace Church, 1081 Tener St. Johnstown, PA 15904.
