Thomas N. Burns, 94, Johnstown, died March 14, 2017, at Arbutus Park Manor. He was born October 4, 1922, in Johnstown, son of the late James and Kathleen (Rattigan) Burns. He was the last member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by his wife, Leona M. (Gay) Burns; and son, Thomas P. Burns. He is survived by daughters, Karen Kormanik, and husband, Jim, Salix; and Lee Ann Meckley, and husband, Dan; Winston-Salem, NC; grandchildren: Karrie Comstock, Amy Lushko, Jamie Cyga, Emily Burns, Corey Wilcut, and Matthew Meckley; and great grandchildren: Ian and Chloe Comstock, Mattie, Alex, and Mae Lushko, Avery Cyga, Cailee Wilcut, and soon to be twin boys, Meckley. He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. He was an avid tennis player, having belonged to the Johnstown Men's Tennis League, and the "Old Farts" tennis league, was a faithful blood donor, and was an avid wood worker. He was a WW II US Navy veteran, having served in the Pacific. He retired from Bethlehem Steel Corporation Gautier Division, having worked as a roll turner. Friends will be received on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the hour of service at 1 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home East Hills, 2503 Bedford Street, Rev. Kirk Rowland and Rev. David S. Peles, officiating. Entombment, Grandview Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Thomas's name to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA Laurel Highlands) in care of Matt Lushko.
