, 71, Central City, died December 26, 2017. Born June 25, 1946, the son of Claude and Ida Gibbons. Preceded in death by parents and son-in-law, Charles Kleinman II. Survived by wife of 50 years, the former Sandra Rogers; son, William H. (Paula S.), SC; daughter, Paula J. (Chet) Barron, Johnstown; and 5 grandchildren. Brother of Luther, Bonnie, Vickie and Anthony. Also survived by best friends, Joe Halkovich, Jim Williams, and cousin, Rodger Frye. Bill was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving in Vietnam. A retired Bethlehem Steel employee. He served on the Central City Borough Council and Water Authority. A life member of Marine Corps League Conemaugh Valley Detachment 287, VFW Post 7457 and the Central City Historical Society. Member of Somerset County Chamber of Commerce (man of the year, 2000), Shade Central City Chamber (man of the year, 2003). He was active in both the Somerset County and local Democratic Party and with local community ventures. Bills lasting legacy to the area remains his spearheading the Armed Forces Memorial. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Central City Assembly of God, where service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. Russell Kessler. Interment, Bedford County Memorial Park.
