83, born April 11, 1934,passed July 20, 2017 at INOVA Fairfax Hospital, Falls Church, VA. Proceeded in death by his father, Joseph Robert Blackner, mother, Evva Spiker Blackner Coltrane, sisters, Rose Marie Foster and Elizabeth Queen, and brothers, Joseph Robert and Richard. Survived by wife of 61 years Rebekah (Becky) Kuhns of Bristow, VA, formerly Johnstown, PA, son Michael and wife Annett of Germany, and daughter Cynthia and husband John Murray of Bristow, VA; Grandchildren: Erik and wife Tiffany Heidenthal, Katlyn Heidenthal, Christopher and wife Katherine Heidenthal, all of Richmond, VA, grandson Balthazar of Germany; step-grandson Sean Murray of Seattle, WA, step-granddaughter Candice Murray of Austin, TX; Great Granddaughter: Willow Heidenthal (daughter of Erik and Tiffany). Also survived by brother, Paul W, Johnstown, PA, and sister, Junita Vasas, Pottstown, PA. After 39 years of dedicated service, Tony retired from the Tribune Democrat in Johnstown, PA. He then was executive director for the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra for 8 years, then followed his love for golf and worked in the Pro Shop at Sunnehanna Country Club for 16 years. Tony loved to work with and inspire youth, and did so through Trinity Lutheran Church, Hornerstown, and the Westmont High School Golf Team. He was active in the Johnstown community and served with several local organizations including the Chamber of Commerce. Tony was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, 600 Ash St. where a Celebration of Tony's Life will be held on August 5, 2017 at 10:00am. Tony is buried in Stonewall Memory Gardens, Gainesville, VA, where his family can visit him often.
