Text size

95, died June 29, 2017. She was born October 24, 1921 in Ebensburg, PA, daughter of the late John Anthony and Edna (Evans) Wolf. After graduating from Ebensburg's schools, Daryle joined the editorial department of Modern Industry magazine in New York City where she rose through the ranks to become Production Manager. She moved to Fairfield, Connecticut to accept a similar position with a chain of newspapers and, in 1952 married Chester Merrill Withington, Jr., editor of The Fairfield News. They resided in Connecticut for 38 years. On Mr. Withington's retirement from Sikorsky Aircraft Division of United Technologies in 1991, the couple built a home in Huntingdon, PA. After Mr. Withington's death on May 8, 1997, Mrs. Withington moved to Hollidaysburg, PA, to be closer to family. She was predeceased by a stepmother, Jane Ann (Long) Wolf; by brothers Donald, John Anthony Jr., David Rodney and infant Robert; by sisters Naomi Annin, Leone Eivers, Gretchen Straple and Carol Wolf. She is survived, in Ebensburg, by sister-in-law Jeanne (McCombie) Wolf; in Australia by brother-in-law Kerry Eivers; in Johns Creek, GA, by a sister, Barbara McFadden; in Duncansville by sister-in-law Lois (Johnnie) Wolf. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins of whom she was most fond - and all of whom were completely enthralled with her. She was the funny, bright and feisty glue that connected the entire family. At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing. Interment in Lloyd Cemetery, Ebensburg, PA at the convenience of the family. A celebration of Daryle's life will follow.
