"Don" died in his home on June 21, 2017, in Citrus Heights, CA after a long battle with cancer. He was 81. Born on April 24, 1936, in Johnstown PA. Son of late Joseph and Bernice (Albee) Ellis. Survived by his loving wife, Kate Ellis and sons, Brent Ellis (Vallejo, CA) and Scott Ellis (Roseville, CA). Grandchildren, Shelly, Shannon, Ricky, Ryan, Lexy, Christopher, Stephanie, Brittani and Madelyn. Sister, Dolores Swintowsky, Johnstown, PA. Preceded in death by his son, Richard Ellis and sister, Marion Zettle. Joined the U.S. Army in 1954 with 21 years of service and multiple hostile deployments overseas. After military retirement, Don relocated to the Northern California region where he worked and raised his family. After calling it quits with work, Don finally retired to sunny Florida where he enjoyed 17 years of a healthy retirement. Don will always be remembered as being a strong, hard-working, fun-loving, and kind hearted man. Interment with military honors at the National Veterans Cemetery in Dixon, California.
