Donna Mae's Story
78, Coupon, died March 16, 2017 at Select Specialty Hospital, Johnstown, of COPD, surrounded by her loving family. Born December 13, 1938 in Gallitzin, daughter of the late Frank and Genevieve (Decker) Ferguson. Preceded in death by sister and brother in law, Marta Jean Patterson and husband, Richard and brother in law, Ray Patterson. Survived by husband of 57 years, Ron whom she married July 24, 1958 in Gallitzin. Children: Valerie Murray (Pete) of Cape Cod, MA and Chris (Teresa Reed) of Murrysville. 4 grandchildren: Abigael Brady, Victoria Brady, Makayla Kishlock and Marcella Kishlock. Sister of: Frances Patterson of Gallitzin, Joanie Lewis (Darl) of Spindley City, Paul Ferguson (Evelyn) of Duncansville, Carol Yon (Jim) of Altoona, Trudy Prugar of Altoona and Brenda Nadolsky (Jimmy) of Lilly. Her life was enriched also by her many nieces and nephews. Donna or Donnie as her family knew her was raised in Gallitzin. She and her husband Ron raised their family in Lilly and upon retirement moved to Coupon. As a young woman Donna worked at the Gallitzin Shirt Factory and upon the adoption of her daughter and son happily became a full time mom. She was dedicated to the lives of her children and proudly spent her days watching them grow. Not a memory was missed. She enjoyed spending her spare time playing bingo with family and friends, visiting with her grandchildren and traveling with her husband and puppy. Together they made countless memories exploring much of the United States. Most of her days were spent visiting with her family and friends around the kitchen table. It was her favorite spot to watch birds and wildlife just outside her window. She was a former member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Cresson and St. Joseph Catholic Church, Coupon. Member of St. Monica Catholic Church, Chest Springs, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Monday, Rev. Christopher Lemme TOR, Celebrant. Committal, St. Joseph Cemetery, Coupon. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 PM Sunday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602 in Donna's memory.
