74, of Westmont, went to be with the Lord after a long battle with cancer on July 6, 2017 at home. Born April 27, 1943 in Scottdale PA, son of Frank K. and Florence (Stauffer) Rush. Preceded in death by his parents and son Douglas K. Rush Jr. Survived by his loving wife of 51 years Joan C. (Custer), son Brian C. Rush, father in law Byron K. Custer Jr., brothers in law Byron K. Custer III married to Lana (Moll) of Johnstown and John E. Custer married to Hoa of Carnegie, special cousin Gerald McGee of Deep Creek MD. Also, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Doug moved from a dairy farm in Scottdale PA in 1954. He graduated from Westmont Hilltop Highschool in 1961 and attended Point Park University. His family opened the first self serve store in Johnstown PA, the Ben Franklin Store. Doug worked there for many years and eventually became the manager. In 1968, he worked in the sales division for Wilson Construction. In 1971 he became the owner and president of Major Builders. He retired from Major Builders after 42 years. He operated Raynor Garage Doors of Johnstown and started Design Service Association, and was a partner in the Lincoln Center Corporation. Doug was on the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown Advisory Board and was on the board at the former Johnstown Bank and Trust. Doug was an avid hunter and loved going to Potter county and to his cabin in Patton with many friends. He enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, and motorcycles. He loved to laugh, have a good time, but above all work hard. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. Johnstown PA 15905. Friends and family will meet for a Celebration of His Life on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Westmont Presbyterian Church, 601 Luzerne Street, Johnstown PA 15905. Interment, Grandview Cemetery.
