65, of Johnstown, died March 19, 2017, at Windber Palliative Care. Born Oct. 7, 1951, in Johnstown, son of Frank J. and Mary M. (Yurkovich) Sojak. Preceded in death by his parents. Survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Mary Ann (Slezak) Sojak; son, Ryan, married to Dawn Shields; and grandchildren, Christopher and Morgan Sojak. Frank was the brother of Daniel, married to Marian Fatula; Richard, married to Deborah Burkett; Janet, wife of Frank Lintner; Kathleen, wife of Ronald Holtz; and Lucinda "Cindy," wife of Philip Barr, all of Johnstown. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Frank retired from The Tribune-Democrat with more than 46 years of service. He started as a copy boy and later moved into the composing room as a printer. He then transferred to the newsroom and was a reporter for his last 30 years. Frank was most known for his favorite column, "Person of the Week." He was a member of the Upper Yoder Township Volunteer Fire Company, where he served as treasurer for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 467, and was the financial secretary for the past year. Member of the Johnstown Rifle & Pistol Club and Tremont Club. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., 710 Broad St., where vigil service will be held. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Resurrection Church, the Rev. George Gulash, officiating. Committal will be held at Grandview Cemetery.
