(86) of Johnstown passed away March 13, 2017. Born March 15, 1930 son of Michael and Mary (Adamyourka) Mihalaki. Preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Pauline (Buchovecky), his second wife Sarah (Polacek) and his brother Michael. Survived by his children Mark, Matthew and wife Sheryl (Hedglin), Paul and wife Susan (Lopez). Grandchildren Mark, Mindi, Kimberly, Chris, Mitchell, Stephanie, Ryan and Carly and great-grandchildren Chase, Logan and Dominic, great-grandchildren Jordan, Melendrina and Malia, his brother John Mihalaki and wife Linda and sister-in-law Leona, also nine stepchildren from the Polacek family. George has been a lifelong member of Christ the Saviour Cathedral, a lifelong member of Greater Ferndale Sportsman's Club and American Legion Post 0294. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and retired from the Florence and R & P mining companies as a machinist. He was a Thirty Second Degree member of Masonic Lodge # 538. He served for many years with BSA Troop # 177 as a leader and scoutmaster. George enjoyed time spent in the outdoors hunting and fishing. Family and friends will be received from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Moskal-Reid funeral home where the Very Reverend Protopresbyter Robert Buczak will hold Panachida at 4 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Christ the Saviour Cathedral, committal Grandview cemetery, Menoher Post 155 VFW Ritual team will conduct graveside military honors.
