98, Myrtle Beach, SC, formerly of Johnstown, went to be with the Lord on April 20, 2017 at Reflections Assisted Living at Carolina Forest, Myrtle Beach, SC. Born on January 26, 1919, in Mineral Point, son of Joseph and Agnes (Page) Thompson. Preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Geneva Uphouse Thompson; 2nd wife, Gloria Woodring Thompson; 3rd wife, Geraldine Leary Thompson; sons, Gerald Jr., Tommy and Joseph; and a brother, Kenneth Thompson. He is survived by his loving children, Trudy, wife of Bob Yost, Norwalk, CA; Connie, wife of Dennis Gilbert, Fallbrook, CA; Diane, wife of Steve Beavers, Rawling, MD; and Janice, wife of Ed Dello, Huntersville, NC. Brother of Janet Rose, San Diego, CA. Also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Gerald served in the US Navy during WW II. He retired from Con-Rail after 39 years of service as a Freight Conductor. Gerald was a member of Summit Chapel United Methodist Church, Wesley Chapel, and also attended the First United Methodist Church in Myrtle Beach, SC. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and Jeff Gordon; the Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Steelers. Gerald will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. His family would like to thank the staff at Reflections Assisted Living and Embrace Hospice, who always treated Gerald with love and respect. Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Chapel, with the Rev. Keith H. Lohr officiating and military rites by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team.
