93, Windber, passed away March 12, 2017 at Richland Healthcare and Rehabilitation. Born March 3, 1924 in Windber. Son of John and Mary (Jozsi) Mehok. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Twila (Manges) Mehok and brother, John C. Mehok. Survived by step-children Patricia Brockman, Florida; Gloria Stopko, Windber; Margaret Nemitz, Florida and Judie Lucas, Windber and their families. Brother of Verna Lapinsky, Windber; Louis Mehok, Richland and Mary Piemonte, Newark, Ohio and their families. Julius was a highly acclaimed, self taught artist and lifelong resident of Windber. He worked as a coal miner, steel worker and construction worker. His paintings depicted his life working and living in the Johnstown area with appreciation for the industries, home life and pastoral settings that made up the lives of the area's residents. Julius earned numerous awards at the state and local level. He held "one man shows" at the AFL-CIO headquarters in Washington, DC and at the Community Arts Center in Johnstown at the age of 86. He was a member of the Allied Artists of Johnstown and the Laborers' Union. Friends received from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday at the William Kisiel Funeral Home, Windber. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Windber. Interment, Rummel Cemetery, Windber.
