Lynette's Story

56, of Johnstown passed away on July 17, 2017, at UPMC Shadyside. Born January 26, 1961 in Newton, New Jersey the Daughter of Richard and Eleanor Carlson Haas. She is preceded in death by her Parents. Survived by her husband, James Hlivko, Johnstown; children Allison 18 ; Jennifer - 18 and Joseph - 18 Hlivko; and sisters: Sharon, wife of Tony Larsen of Hopatcong, NJ; Janet, wife of David Hooey of Diamond Point, NY and Barbara Haas of Euless, Texas. Lynette grew up in Lake Lenape (Andover) New Jersey. She attended Rev. George A. Brown Memorial School and Florence M. Byrd through 8th grade and moved on to Newton High School. In 1978, Lynette moved with her mother, father and sister Barbara to Garland, Texas where she graduated from North Garland High School. After high school, Lynette pursued a career in the travel industry, her 2nd choice after deciding her first passion, Truck driving school, was not her intended career path. She so enjoyed her travel career and visited most of the U.S and many countries overseas. Continuing her career in the travel industry, and following her other passion car racing, she joined the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America,) where she met and married Jim Hlivko on November 8, 1986. For many years Jim and Lynette attended races all over the country as they both raced Jims HP Sprite. From Texas, Lynette moved for her husbands career to Colorado twice and California twice. In 1996 they resided in Rosamond California when on February 7, 1999 they brought their two daughters and one son into the world. In September 2000 they moved from Rosamond to Johnstown, her husbands home town, to be closer to family while raising their triplets. Lynettes true passion from then on was her complete devotion to her kids. Nothing kept her down. She was Super Mom. Lynette remained involved with her kids and others in the many organizations and clubs including: President of the Johnstown Newcomers Club, Secretary of the West Suburban Little League. She was an avid scrapbooker. She was Treasurer of her daughters 4H Club, Treasurer of the Booster Club for her daughters gymnastics team. She was heavily involved and supported her kids in hockey, horseback riding, marching band and gymnastics. She was a wonderful billet mom for the Johnstown Tomahawks Hockey team for Zack, Shane and Ryan for three years. Friends will be received from 1-3 and 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the FRANCIS G OZOG FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 710 Broad St., where vigil service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, the Very Rev. Mark Begley, VF. Committal will be held at Grandview Cemetery.
