M. Allan "Al"'s Story
83, of Monongahela, went to be with the Lord and his beloved wife of 57 years, Eleanor, on September 5, 2017. He was born in Hastings, Pennsylvania on September 7, 1933. Al was a graduate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Mining Engineering. He was member of St. Damien of Molokai Parish, B.P.O. Elks Lodge #455 and the Boys Club, all of Monongahela. He was devoted to his family, enjoyed playing the piano, telling jokes and was very fun loving. He loved spending time with his friends and family get togethers. Al is survived by a son, Gregory Holtz; three daughters and sons-in-law, Michele ( Mike) Yotz, Karen (Garry) Brannon, Denise ( Sam) Baer; six grandchildren, James and Allison Yotz, Caitlyn and Mackenzie Brannon, Colby and Lindsay Baer; sister, Virginia Weakland; three brothers, Fr. Vernon Holtz, OSB, Bill Holtz, John (Judy) Holtz; in-laws, Marian Carey, Donna (Pat) Gallaher, Virginia (Mike) Nalisnick; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by, Pat (Mae) Holtz, Jean Holtz, Henry Weakland, Carolyn (Fred) Gibbons and Richard Carey. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Paramount Senior Living Dementia Care Unit of Bethel Park for their compassionate care. Friends will be received on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela. Additional visitations will be held on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 8:30 until 9:30 at which time funeral prayers will begin in the funeral home. A mass of Christian burial will follow at 10:00 AM in St. Damien of Molokai Parish with the Rev. William Terza, pastor as celebrant. Committal services and entombment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association,1100 Liberty Avenue, Suite E-201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222 or to St. Damien of Molokai Parish, 722 W. Main Street, Monongahela, PA 15063.
