Margaret's Story

(Vyrostek), 98, Johnstown, died on July 4, 2017 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born January 4, 1919 in Johnstown. She was the daughter of the late John and Susan (Koval) Virostek. After graduating from Johnstown High School, Margaret was employed by the former Insley's, a ladies clothing store, retiring after 50 years of employment. Before moving into an assisted living facility, she enjoyed going to dinner with her friends and attending concerts performed by the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra. Her travels included trips to Ireland, Italy, Mexico and visiting with family in AZ, FL, NJ, NY, TX and throughout PA. Aunt Margie, as she was known, always had an invitation to celebrate holidays and special occasions at the homes of her siblings, nieces and nephews. Margaret was a longtime member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, where she had been a Eucharistic Minister, Lector and a member of the former Ladies Guild. Pre-deceased by sisters, Ann Feleshak and Mary Chamiok; brothers, Joseph, Andrew, Johnny, Stephen, Edward and Francis Virostek. Survived by brother, John Virostek, married to the former Mary Jane Spanko, Flemington, NJ and many nieces and nephews. She will be fondly remembered and missed by all. Viewing Friday, July 7, 2017 at 9 a.m. at Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, 710 Broad Street. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Barron Avenue. Committal St. Francis Cemetery.
