Matthew J. Freeman, 57, of Portage, PA passed away on September 20, 2017 from cardiac arrest. Matt was born in Latrobe, PA on February 28, 1960. He graduated from Ligonier Valley High School and earned a Bachelors Degree from the California University of Pennsylvania. Matt was an educator and coach at Merrimack High School for many years in New Hampshire before returning to PA to work as a CAD draftsman for Say-Core in Portage, PA. He enjoyed golfing, watching all sports, and conversing with his many good friends. Matt is survived by brother Joseph Freeman and his wife Carolyn Rauch of Paradise Valley AZ; sister Meg Freeman and husband Joseph (Chip) Griffith of Laughlintown, PA; brother Phillip (Rip) Freeman from Ligonier, PA; sister Mary and husband David Tarsi from Hummelstown, PA. He also had six nieces and nephews, Lydia, Patrick, Nick, Alex, Caitlyn, and Gina who loved their Uncle Matt dearly. Matt was preceded in death by father Joseph J. Freeman of Windber PA, mother Rose Marie Freeman of Johnstown PA, and brother David B. Freeman. Services will be private and memorial donations may be sent to Amvets 910 Main St. #912 Portage PA 15946.
