Portage, PA - Bihary, Albert Orest, 95, Portage, passed away January 17 2025 at home. Born August 13, 1929 in Binghamton, New York, the son of Rev. Adalbert and Cornelia Olga (Koman) Bihary. Deceased family members include his parents; brother Joseph Bihary and sister Catherine Michaels. Survived by loving wife of 53 years Jane (Markovich) Bihary; children, Karen, wife of Thomas Kunko, Gregory Twiggs, and Jason married to the former Sonja (Offman) Bihary; grandchildren, Krystle Kunko, Breanna Kunko, and Alexandra, Morgan, Peyton and Reagan Bihary; great grandchildren, Madison Heidler and Brennan Kunko, and nephews Brian and Steve Michaels. Graduated from Portage Boro High School in 1947 where he was the captain of the football team and also played basketball. Al loved spending time with his family, and golfing, bowling, gardening and sporting activities. U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, where he was the recipient of the Purple Heart. Retired Post Master from the U.S.P.S. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus; and a member of the Portage AMVETS and American Legion. Friends received from 4-8 p.m., Tuesday at the Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, PC, Portage where Panachida will be sung at 7 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be Celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday at Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Portage. Fr, James Spontak, Celebrant. Committal in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Military Rites by the Portage Ritual Team.
