MILAVEC - Albin F. Sr. "Steve," "Beanie," "Zoom" and "Walt," 87, Bon Air, passed away Aug. 4, 2010, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Feb. 2, 1923, in Johnstown, son of John and Jennie (Marolt) Milavec. Preceded in death by parents and siblings, Jennie Tursic, John, Julie Luzar, Mary Petrovic, Elsie Strazisar, Frank, Andrew, Edward and Laddie. Survived by wife of 61 years, Pauline (Miller) Milavec, Bon Air; daughter, Paula A., wife of Michael Ballentine, Phoenixville, Pa.; sons, Albin Jr., married to the former Pamela Ribblett, Johnstown; and Michael J., married to the former Marion Negy, Sidman; grandchildren, Michael J. Jr., married to the former Jody Smith, Cresson; and Chandrika "Rika," Johnstown; sister, Rose Klinar, Richland; brother, William Milavec, Bon Air; and numerous nieces and nephews; also many friends, including special friend, Francis "Goose'" Kudel, Bon Air. Steve was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army with the 557th Anti-aircraft Artillery. He retired after 40 years of service from Bethlehem Mines, where he was employed as a surveyor. Steve was one of the original organizers and member of SS. Gregory & Barnabas Parish, Bon Air. Member of SNPJ Lodge 254, Bon Air, and former member of AFU, East Conemaugh. Steve enjoyed hunting and gardening and loved his family dearly. He will be remembered as a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh, where vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at SS. Gregory & Barnabas Parish, Bon Air, the Rev. Father Robert Ruston. Committal, Grandview Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contribution be directed to SS.
