Althea Mary Laurito
(Pavlock), 93, Northern Cambria, passed away at her home, September 18, 2019. Born in Lore City, Ohio, on February 12, 1926, the daughter of Martin and Mary (Ambro) Pavlock. Preceded in death by parents; loving husband of 52 years, Dr. Angelo F. Laurito; brothers, Tech Sgt. Martin Eugene, who was killed in action in World War II; Cornelius "Neal", WWII US Coast Guard Veteran; and L. James "Jim" Pavlock; and an infant sister. Survived by son, Timothy F. Laurito, husband of Martina "Tina" (Basile), Hastings; grandchildren, Alissa, Chelsey Jo and Brian Laurito. Sister of Dr. Dewey Pavlock, New Oxford. Sister-in-law of Gladys (Jim) Pavlock, Philadelphia, and June (Fred) Laurito, Patton. Survived also by many loving nieces and nephews and cousins. Graduate of University of Pittsburgh with a Master's Degree in Education. Member of Delta Kappa Gamma (Honor Society for Woman Educators) where she served in different leadership capacities at the county and state levels and was recognized for her outstanding service. Life Member of PASR (PA Association of School Retirees) where she also received recognition and awards for her service; member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas; the Pitt Alumni Society; Member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church where she was involved in Altar & Rosary Society and Legion of Mary as well as serving as a Eucharistic Minister. Althea was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved family "get-togethers" and attending the activities of her grandchildren. She enjoyed teaching Business Education to thousands of students during her 43 years in Education. She was happy to have been an advisor for the Drama Club and other school activities. Althea enjoyed golfing, traveling, reading, gardening, hearing from former students, and playing cards with friends and family. Friends will be received from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 26, 2019, at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 27, at Prince of Peace Church. Fr. Matthew Baum officiating. Committal, St. Joseph Cemetery.
