Barbara Louise (Repko) Sauer, age 79, of Erie, Pa., and formerly of Windber, passed away at UPMC Hamot Hospital, in Erie, on Thursday, June 8, 2023. Born in Windber, on December 28, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Julia (Tracey) Repko.

Barbara was a graduate of Windber High School, class of 1961, and worked at Windber Hospital. She met her husband in Washington, D.C. when she was working for the USDA, and he was stationed there with the U.S. Navy. She worked for the federal government for over 30 years, retiring from the U.S. Postal Service, where she worked as a human resources assistant. She was the Sunshine chairperson for NARFE Chapter 143. Barbara enjoyed playing cards and games with her friends and grandchildren. She enjoyed being a lector for her church, Mount Calvary Catholic Church, and baking cookies for Emmaus Ministries.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, whom she lovingly honored for 31 years after his passing on June 24, 1992, Elmer J. Sauer; and a brother, Andrew Repko.

Survivors include three children, Andrew Sauer, wife Therese, of Alexandria, Va., Donald Sauer, wife Heather, of Erie, and Tracey McNulty, husband Dennis, of Stone Ridge, Va.; six grandchildren, Remle, Lucas, and Joshua Sauer, Parker, and Morgan Sauer, and James McNulty; a brother, John Repko, wife Barbara, of Philipsburg, N.J., and her sister, Beatrice Martinez, husband Richard, of The Woodlands, Texas.

Friends are invited to call on Monday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 E. 38th Street, Erie, PA 16504, and may attend a funeral Mass at Mount Calvary Catholic Church, 2022 E. Lake Rd., Erie, PA 16511, Tuesday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery, in Erie.
