New Florence, PA - HOWER - Carl Russell, 74, New Florence, passed away on Dec. 11, 2025. Born on Sept. 7, 1951, the son of the late Carl A. and Mary Louise (Joy) Hower. Also preceded in death by wife, Mary Louise "Marilou" (Fairish) Hower, and son, Steven Hower. He leaves behind a loving family, including his son, Carl Hower, New Florence; daughter, Christina Reck, and husband Neil; and grandchildren, Kirsten Reck, Brandon Reck, and Carlee Hower. Carl is also survived by his brother, Richard Hower, and wife Carrie Ann Hower, Seward, and niece and nephew, Sarah and Andrew Hower. Carl was a proud veteran, having served honorably in the United States Air Force. His dedication and commitment during his service reflected his character, which shone brightly in all aspects of his life. In addition to his military service, his love for the outdoors was reflected in his service as a deputy with the Pennsylvania Game Commission, where he honored his passion for nature and conservation. Family was at the center of everything he did. He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He will be deeply missed, and his legacy of love will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. The family will be receiving friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St., New Florence, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Pastor Jim Pardee, officiating. Interment, Fairfield Cemetery.
