Charles M. "Mike," 72, Ebensburg, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital. A son of the late Charles Gibbs Hasson and Helen Brug Hasson. He was born in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Jan. 31, 1945. A lifelong resident of Ebensburg, he was an elementary school teacher, retiring in 2014 from the Central Cambria School District. He was an avid golfer, fly fisherman and beachgoer. His pride and joy were his four beloved grandchildren. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Charles Christopher and Mary Lou Hasson, Rostraver Township; one daughter and son-in-law, Marcie and Charles Haywood, Manteo, N.C.; one brother and sister-in-law, John and Mary Hasson, Homer City; one sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Paul Noguchi, Winfield; four grandchildren, Brendan Hasson, Marissa Hasson, Abby Haywood and Caroline Haywood; his former wife, Rachel Reed Gaskins, Wanchese, N.C.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Askew-Houser Funeral Home, 300 N. Julian St., Ebensburg.
