Ebensburg, PA - Smith - Donald J., Ebensburg, age 87, died June 15, 2026, at home. Born May 11, 1939, in New Germany, Pa., son of Thomas and Cecilia (Shero) Smith. Preceded in death by parents; sisters, Jean Werner, Ruth Sims, and Irma Welsch. Survived by wife, the former Theresa (Bertanzetti) Smith with a marriage union of 60 years; children, Beth Ann (Bill) Hinman, Mullica Hill, New Jersey; Nanette (Korey) Burns, Savannah, Ga.; Christie Smith, Bedford and Trina (Chris) Schenzel, Chambersburg, Pa.; grandchildren, Allison and Paul Rastelli; Leah and Teagan Burns; and Mason and Noah Schenzel. Brother of Ken and Ray Smith, Sharon Rickels and Annette Ridenour. Retired Art teacher from Central Cambria High School. Member of K. of C. Council 522 Ebensburg and 4th degree Prince Gallitzin Assembly 919 Loretto. Longtime member of Johnstown Saddle Club and volunteer for Windber Hospice. Don has helped make the Hospice Horse Show successful over the years. Eucharist Minister at Holy Name Church. Loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Don was a talented carpenter, building his home. He was able to fix just about anything. These days he enjoyed relaxing on his porch and watching westerns. Friends will be received Thursday from 9 until time of funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Holy Name Church Narthex, the Rev. Brian Warchola. Interment, Holy Name Cemetery, Ebensburg.
