Cairnbrook, PA - MULCAHY - Donna Jean (Kovak), 75, Cairnbrook, PA, died October 7, 2025. Born June 13, 1950, in Windber, daughter of the late Francis and Eleanor (Fusina) Kovak. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Joyce Lane, who was a sister in every way and on every day; in-laws, Bob and Betty Mulcahy; and special sister, Ann Mulcahy, whose happy and loving way of life was a lesson for all. Survived by husband of 53 years, Bob, whose life was greatly affected through her illness, but he held her hand and her heart through it all; children: cherished daughter, Heather Kohan; cherished son and daughter-in-law, Brad Mulcahy, married to the former Stephanie Miller; Grammie to her cherished grandchildren: Elle Platt; Jamison Kohan; Sophia, Connor and Ava Mulcahy; Nana to her cherished great-grandchildren, Leni and Laila Platt; brother, Frank (Mary) Kovak; brother-in-law, Lloyd (Pip) Lane; sister-in-law, Missy (Billy) Stringent; nieces and nephews, Michael (Erin) Kovak, Susan (Tim) Custer, Nick Lane, Angie (Andy) Kremer, April (Josh) Hoover, and Alecia (Katie) Weber-Klonicke; great-nieces Teresa, Abby, Anna, Nora, Charlotte, Sage, and Margaret; and many relatives and good friends. Donna was a registered nurse who ended her career in her favorite area of a family practice office that started at Forbes Trail Area Medical Center and then Highlands Family Medicine. She loved the people and working there. Her greatest joy of nursing was helping family and friends with their health care needs and especially loved when the neighborhood children came running to her with their cuts and bruises. But above all that she loved being mom to Heather and Brad and their families who brought joy, laughter, magic, delight, pride, spirituality, family and the importance of everyday to her life. Donna was touched by all the family and friends who visited, called, sent cards, letters, and texted during her illness. She was grateful for the lasting friendships of neighbors, high school and nursing school classmates that brightened her days. Cairnbrook would always be home with 6th Street being the perfect place to grow up and 5th Street the perfect place to start married life and raise a family. Donna was a lifetime member of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church (formerly Sacred Heart), the true faith and Church she loved. From her roots in Poland and Italy, her faith carries on in her children and grandchildren and nothing made her more proud.

She was treated with genuine care and compassion by the staff at UPMC Shadyside, especially Dr. Evan Alicuban and at UPMC Somerset Oncology and Dr. Daghestani. Donna was so thankful for all of you from day one. A special thank you to Father Aron who administered the Sacrament of the Sick, special blessings and saw to it she received the Holy Eucharist while ill at home. Also thank you to Windber Hospice for their care. Friends will be received from 2 to and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Mulcahy Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church (Sacred Heart), Father Aron Maghsoudi, celebrant. Interment, Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church.
