91, of Clymer, died Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at the Rose Haven Personal Care Home in Indiana. Born May 22, 1925, in Indiana, he was the son of the late Edward Neal Beatty and Emma Rose (Slenckiy) Beatty. He was widowed from his wife of 64 years, Ann M. (Ferrier) Beatty, who died November 28, 2013. Ed was a World War II veteran where he served as a Seaman First Class in the U.S. Navy. Following the war and his marriage to Ann, he began a lengthy career as a coal miner, working for the Barnes and Tucker Coal Company. He retired in the mid 1980's. Following his retirement, Ed enjoyed driving cars for Colonial Motors in Indiana. He also liked spending time at Yellow Creek State Park and throwing horseshoes. Of course he dearly loved his family, especially his wife, Ann, whom he missed following her passing several years ago. Both Ed and Ann were members of the Calvary Baptist Church of Clymer. He is survived by his children: Daniel Beatty & wife, Cynthia, Tennessee; Dave Beatty & wife, Alice, Penn Run; Cynthia Manslow & husband, Richard, Indiana; Robert Beatty & wife, Jacqueline, Colver; and Thomas Beatty & wife, Jennifer, Clymer. Ed is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and a nephew. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Edward N. Beatty, Jr. Friends will be received Friday afternoon, August 12 from 1 until 2 p.m., the time of his funeral service at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Clymer. Pastor Daryl S. Jeffers and Ed's son, Daniel Beatty will co-officiate. Burial will be in the East Mahoning Cemetery, Purchase Line. In lieu of flowers, the Beatty Family is asking that memorial donations be made to the Calvary Baptist Church, 11394 Route 286, Hwy, East, Clymer, PA 15728, or you may donate to a hospice organization of your choosing.
