He eventually ran his own timbering and sawmill business until retirement. Ed was a passionate outdoorsman and spent many of his free hours hunting, trapping, fishing and roaming the mountains of Pennsylvania in search of ginseng. In his mid-years, he was very active with various sportsmen’s clubs and served as Clean Streams chairman of the Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsmen, always trying to improve opportunities for other sportsmen. Ed’s real passion in life was for country music. Known to his fans as “Eddie Valentine,” much of his life was spent entertaining on stage, radio and TV. The highlight of his music career was starring on the weekly “Galen Richey Show,” which aired on WJAC-TV in 1971.
