Elaine Flo Keafer (Seese), 86, passed away on June 13, 2016 to join her recently passed husband, Lloyd, in Harmony with God in his Universe. She was born in Johnstown, PA into a family with 3 other sisters (Larue, Marge, and Coleen) where her father was a high school principal and her mother was a teacher. She graduated from Johnstown High School in 1948, attended Juniata College where she met her life-long soul mate, Lloyd. Together, they recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

Elaine and Lloyd moved to the Virginia Peninsula in 1953, eventually settling in Marlbank Farms in Yorktown and continued to reside there for over 50 years. Elaine is survived by her 4 children; Joy of Yorktown, Bruce (Anne) of Falmouth, MA, Wayne of Yorktown, and Dale (Michelle) of Newport News, VA, along with many grand and great grandchildren.

Elaine was a nurse and caretaker, a saleswoman and most importantly, a mother. She attended Memorial Hospital Nursing School in Johnstown, PA and continued that caring attitude throughout her life, helping various family and friends in need. In addition to raising her own 4 children, she and Lloyd with daughter Joy sponsored an AFS exchange student at York High School. Elaine also worked several businesses out of the home, most notably selling World Book Encyclopedias. Over the years, she donated many full sets to local churches and libraries.

Elaine loved both music and dancing. She sang in many church choirs, helped direct childrens choirs, and influenced family members to enjoy music. Together with Lloyd, they served as co-presidents of Merry Mixers and organizers of the annual New Years Eve square dances for over 25 years. After a long life, she can now dance and flutter like a butterfly in heaven.

A memorial service officiated by Pastor Ken Peterson will be held at Ivy Farms Church of the Brethren, 681 Dresden Drive, Newport News, VA 23601, on Saturday, June 25 starting at 11:00 a.m., followed immediately by a luncheon served by the church in the fellowship hall. Interment will follow at 2:30pm (no procession from the church) at Peninsula Memorial Park, 12750 Warwick Blvd, Newport News, VA 23606. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Heifer International P.O. Box 8058 Little Rock, AR 72203-8058 (www.heifer.org), which is dedicated to working with communities to end world hunger and poverty. Contributions may also be made to Ivy Farms Church of the Brethren. Arrangements are by Weymouth Funeral Home, Newport News, VA.
