Windber, PA - SEKELA - Elizabeth A. "Betty," 95, Windber, passed away March 25, 2026, at Windber Woods. Born Dec. 6, 1930, in Johnstown, daughter of the late John and Lucy (Franchic) Cekolj. Preceded in death by husband, Andy Sekela; stepsons, George and John Sekela; stepgrandson, Michael Andrew Sekela; brothers, John and Edward Cekolj; and sisters, Dolores Brown and Mary Jane Henegmihle. Survived by loving daughter, Marinee Temme; granddaughters, Candace, married to Gregory, and Chelsea, and her partner, Gary; great-grandchildren, Brooke and Paige Jerome; sister, Donna Jean, married to Jerry Kerr; stepgranddaughters, Julie and Laura; stepgrandson, Todd Sekela; and numerous stepgreat-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Elizabeth was a faithful member of St. Mary's Byzantine Church, of Windber, where she was active in the ladies rosary society and was involved with other church events. She was a longstanding volunteer for the American Red Cross and dedicated member of the Windber VFW ladies auxiliary. Elizabeth was extremely proud of her Croatian heritage and was a long-standing member of the Rodoljub Singing Society, following in her father's footsteps. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home, of Windber, where Windber VFW ladies auxiliary will hold a service to honor her. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at St. Mary's Byzantine Church with Father Ivan. Committal to follow at church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Church, Windber VFW, or American Red Cross in honor of Betty.
