George J. Sidor Obituary
Johnstown, PA - Sidor - George J. Jr., 81, Johnstown, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Richland Nursing and Rehab. Born on October 4, 1944, in Johnstown, son of George J. Sr. and Frances K. (Karnosky) Sidor. Preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Eleanor A. Sidor. He is survived by his loving nephew, Keith (Jodi) Sidor, Virginia Beach, Va.; great-nephews and nieces, Alan, Kayla, Loren, and Meghan, all of Virginia Beach, Va. George was a 1962 graduate of East Conemaugh High School. He attended St. Francis College and UPJ. George was employed at Bethlehem Steel Freight Car Division as a welder until he was called to serve his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. After serving his tour of duty, he came back to Johnstown, retiring from Johnstown America as a Leader. He was a member of Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church. George loved watching Steelers Football on Sundays and gardening. At George's request, there will be no public viewing. A Memorial Mass will be held for George and his late sister, Eleanor at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church, Rev. Dr. Robert F. Oravetz. Committal will be at Holy Trinity Cemetery. The family is being served by the Baker Funeral Chapel and Cremation, 229-231 First Street, Conemaugh. Contributions may be directed to Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church, 217 4th St., Conemaugh, PA 15909 in memory of George. Online condolences may be posted to www.bakerfuneralchapel.com.
