BROGDEN - Gerald Martin "Brogie," "Jerry," 82, Johnstown, loving husband, father and grandfather, peacefully passed away at his residence Friday evening with his family by his side. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late William and Margaret (Jones-Henry) Brogden. Jerry married Beverly Miles on Jan. 6, 1966, and together they had five children: Edward Tilson, who preceded him in death. Surviving are, Christine Gates (Andrew), of Stephens City, VA; Barbara Yon (Joseph), of Johnstown; Debra Haver (Michael), of Pittsburgh; and Andrew Brogden, of Rockville, MD; 10 grandchildren: Michael, David, AJ, Cassidy, Bailey, Ryan, Rachel, Bradey, Caleb, and Eli; and his three sisters: Patricia Frederick, Kathleen Barnicle and Barbara Johnson, all of Altoona. He was a 1960 graduate of Altoona High School and had worked for Altoona Manufacturing until he began his own men's clothing business in the early '70s. Jerry moved Brogies Men's Clothing Store to Johnstown in 1975 and had a successful business for 40 years. Jerry was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Johnstown, and the Knights of Columbus. He was a die-hard "Seinfeld" fan and he loved listening to the Eagles, the Bee Gees and Andrea Bocelli. Jerry could bring a smile to anyone's face and had a heart of gold. He loved to read and enjoyed cars. Most of all, Jerry loved spending time with his loving family, which was everything to him, he loved their beach and amusement park vacations and family dinners together.
