Gertrude Pauline Steinbring Obituary
Johnstown, PA - STEINBRING - Gertrude Pauline (Lepter) "Dolly," 88, of Johnstown. Born Sept. 30, 1937, in Johnstown, PA, went home to the Lord peacefully on July 24, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family. Daughter of John and Amelia (Skasko) Lepter. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, John A. Lepter, Margaret Winters, Amelia Shaulis, Michael Lepter, Irene Wetzel, Henry Lepter, Mary Louise Brown, and Walter Lepter; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. Survived by loving husband of 68 years, Rudolph O. Steinbring; children, Pamela Swansboro (Marc Lokesak), David (Antoinette), and Michele Schugt; and her grandsons, Ryan (Dominique) Schugt, Jared A. Swansboro (Brooke Henshaw), and Brett Schugt (Cassidy Moyer). Survived by sister, Shirley Stahl; brother, Richard Lepter; sister-in-law, Betty Stine; and brother-in-law, Ronald Steinbring. Also survived by multiple cousins, nieces, and nephews. Many of her children's friends became her lifelong friends. Our Mom loved helping others, and she devoted her life to doing so. She cared for everyone: her husband, children, relatives, friends, and neighbors. She was very proud of being a 1955 graduate of Greater Johnstown High School. Our Mom spoke often about her time working at "Mr. James' Bakery" in Cambria City when she was a young woman. She also worked at Benshoff Printing in Johnstown for several years. Dolly married on June 28, 1958, to her loving husband, and together began their family in 1961. Our mother was a faithful Christian and a devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church. She made her faith the foundation of our family life. Every Sunday, we attended Sunday School and worship together, followed by a delicious sit-down family dinner. Those Sundays were filled with faith, love, togetherness, and traditions that became some of our most cherished memories. She shared "Christ's Light" with everyone she knew. Her family was the most important thing to her, and her greatest joy was her three grandsons. She could not have been prouder of "the three boys!" Their "Grammy" created loving memories that will last throughout their lifetimes. Devoted lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, 613 Locust St, Johnstown, PA, where a final visitation will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., the Rev.
