89, of Alum Bank, passed away on May 31, 2018 at Donahoe Manor. He was born on October 13, 1928, in Rockwood; son of the late Victor and Etta (Phillippi) Handwork. On September 8, 1951, he married Sara Jane (Lohr) Handwork in Winchester, Va. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Glen; sister, Alverta Luce. He is survived by his wife, Sara Jane; daughter, Nancy and husband Jerry Radford of New Paris; son, Dennis and wife Cindy Handwork of Alum Bank; 4 grandchildren, Julie and Adam Radford; and Heidi and Drew Handwork. Harry attended the Alum Bank United Methodist Church. He was a 1946 graduate of Shade Twp. High School. He worked at General Refractories Co. for 32 years as a shipping foreman. He also worked for 24 years, until the age of 84, before retiring at the Furmanek Machine Co. He worked with his father on the farm while working at General Refractories. Harry loved being with his family, he enjoyed golfing, and gardening, he was especially proud of his tomatoes. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Friends and family will be received on Sunday, June 3, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Alum Bank United Methodist Church. The funeral service will be held Monday, June 4 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Raymond Beal officiating at the Alum Bank United Methodist Church. Interment will be at the Fishertown Cemetery. Donations may be made in memory of Harry (Jack) Handwork to the Alum Bank Fire Co.
