Johnstown, PA - HELBIG - Jacob Russell "Jake, Jacobubs, Jakabake, Jakoby, Jacky," 21, of Johnstown, Pa., passed away at home on Jan. 31, 2026. Survived by Todd and Jaime (parents); brother, Nicolas (Amber); niece, Marlowe; Gabriel, Elijah, and Aubrey (siblings); grandparents, Janet Bishop, Wally, and Kathy Fieser; great-grandparent, Betty Rosian; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jacob was a caring, kind, and encouraging young man. His morning posts of "Have a good day," along with his hugs, were consistent and will be truly missed by all. Jacob was a "New Day kid" growing up, and he made it his second home as an adult. His work at New Day Inc. impacted children as a mentor and tutor. His Christ-like demeanor was gentle and loving, and he studied the Bible and prayed daily. Jacob attended UPJ as an engineering student, where he consistently made the dean's list. He inspired many in the community to be the best version of themselves. He attended Sharon's Dance Studio in hip-hop and had a gift for dub-stepping. His talents were also displayed in the high school drama department, where he played in "The Wizard of Oz," "Big Fish," "Mamma Mia," and "The Wedding Singer." He most recently performed as Joseph in the Christmas play "Whispers on the Rusty Rails." Jacob was a member of Bridge to Life Church and also attended the young adults group "Gravity" at GJCF. He was loved by all: teachers, peers, family, church members, etc. His sense of humor was unmatched, always making others laugh. He was a "first mate" sailing with his father, a "Superfan" of the Steelers, enjoyed biking trips with his cousins and grandfather, summer vacations to the beach, soccer, bowling in the Sandbagger's League, and was a fish in the water. He loved "old school" music and gaming. He had a special relationship with his niece, Marlowe, and his interactions with her will be some of our fondest memories. He was truly a disciple and follower of God and is enjoying eternity with Him now. The family is requesting that, in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to New Day Inc., as it was dear to Jacob's heart. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home, East Hills, 2503 Bedford St., where a funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m., Pastor Chris Valente. Interment, Forest Lawn Cemetery. Henderson Funeral Home, East Hills, is serving the family.
