Hooversville, PA - Rodger - Dr. James Allen, 73, Hooversville, died January 8, 2026, at home. Born September 16, 1952, in Somerset, son of the late James N. and Lois Theora (Bloom) Rodger. Survived by his sister, Jacqueline A. (Denny) Shriner; nephew, Eric (Michelle) Shriner; niece, Ann (James) Conroy; and great-nieces and nephew: Lily Shriner, and Delainey and Maddox Conroy. He was a 1970 graduate of Forbes High School. James received his B.S. from UPJ, received his M.S. degree, and then received his Doctorate in M.I.S. from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Ill., in 1977. He was a former professor at several Pennsylvania universities, and also taught overseas in India and China. He was published in several journals and in two books. James enjoyed traveling, hunting, reading, movies, and discussing current events. Family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday at Deaner Cremation Center, 976 Barn St., Hooversville, where service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Rev. Gerald Myers officiating.
