James E. &x22Uncle Jim&x22 Thomas Obituary

THOMAS – James E. “Uncle Jim,” 56, Portage, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown, surrounded by his loving family. Born Jan. 31, 1956, he was the youngest son of the late Melvin and Henrietta (Brown) Thomas. Survived by daughters, Jenny (Nate) and Bethanie (Michael); grandchildren, Micah, Becah, Isaiah and Hannah; brother, Melvin (Cindy); and sister, Joan (Gary) Shingler. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; and best buddy, Oliver. Jim enjoyed spending lots of quality time with his nephews. He was a master woodcarver and received numerous awards. He also enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping with his nephews. Jim also will be sadly missed by his dog and companion, Abby. Family and friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 6, at Jean H. Kinley Funeral Home, Portage, with service immediately following. Graveside committal will be held at the family’s convenience. Isaiah 40:31.
