Unger, James E., 89 of Richland, died February 25, 2025 at Arbutus Park Manor. Born May 01,1935 in Johnstown. Son of Jenery and Rose (Anderson) Unger. Preceded in death by his parents, sons James and Richard, brother Richard and wife Donna.

Survived by loving wife of 70 years Anna M. (Ventry), children Pamela Constable of VA, Robert J. (Sandra), Gerald E. (Patricia), and Betty Jo Wingard (Ken) SC, and brother Bill Wiley (Ethel) N.J.

Known as Papa Jim to 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great -great grandchild.

James was a 1953 graduate of Johnstown Catholic High School. He was formerly employed at Bethlehem Steel, U.P.J. Dispatcher, U.C.P. Driver, and retired from the City of Johnstown after 30 years' service.

He was an avid fisherman, outstanding basketball player who contributed to winning many championships for several local teams between 1955 to 1965, he enjoyed wood working projects, boating and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be sadly missed but never forgotten.

Friends received on Wednesday March 5, 2025 at Frank Duca Funeral Home, EAST HILLS CHAPEL & Crematory, 404 Walters Avenue 15904 (near Pa Drivers Center) from 4-7 PM. Funeral Mass will be held 10 AM Thursday at St. Benedict Catholic Church Geistown.

Private Interment Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please contribute to a charity of choice in his memory. Also a special "thank you" to the staffs of Arbutus Park Manor and the Conemaugh Regional Hospice for the loving and comforting care they provided James.
