Mrs. Janet G. Leydig, 78, of Hill Top Heights, Bedford, died Sunday, November 20th, 2016 at her home. Mrs. Leydig was born in Schellsburg on Sunday, March 27, 1938, the daughter of the late J. Lewis and G. Liilian (Acker) Bigelow. On August 12, 1956, she married the love of her life, Barry L. Leydig. In addition to her husband she is survived by Son- Joe Leydig, Portage; Son- Alan husband of Alicia Leydig, Buffalo Mills; Son- Todd Leydig, Burnt Cabins; Son- Keith husband of Wendy Leydig, Carlisle; Sister- Shirley Ringler and her family, Alum Bank. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amanda and a daughter-in-law, Elaine. Janet was a member of Pleasant hill Bible Church in Imlertown since 1966. She was a 1956 graduate of Bedford High School. Janet worked at G.C. Murphy's, Murdock's and at several local restaurants as a waitress. In the 1970's, she worked at Bedford County Memorial Park and throughout the years, she baby-sat many children. Janet and Barry enjoyed spending their summers camping and for the last 10 years, enjoyed their winters in Florida with their Florida family. Janet was a member of A.B.C. and she loved being a part of the Monday Night Pioneer Bowling League for 22 years. She served on the Children & Youth Advisory Board for eight terms and sat on the Election Board for 26 years. Janet was a kind and caring person and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be greatly missed. A private funeral service will be held with interment at Bedford County Memorial Park. Arrangements entrusted to Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg.
