Johnstown, PA - GRENKE - Joan Allene (Halverson), 94, of Johnstown, formerly of New Florence and Conway, South Carolina, passed away on July 28, 2026, at her residence, The Addison of McCullough Place. Born Sept. 17, 1931, in Windber, daughter of Raymond A. and Grace E. (Letcher) Halverson. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Telford "Ted"; sister, Jean (Halverson) Walker; and daughter-in-law, April (Robichaud) Grenke. She is survived by sons, Robert (Maureen), of Bowie, Maryland, and Richard, of Hernando, Florida; daughter, Cathy (William) Ritenour, of Johnstown; and beloved by grandchildren, Sarah, Andrew, Christopher Grenke, Renee (Brad) Erdmann, Elizabeth Schneider, Abby (Drake) Chose and Alexander (Kylie) Ritenour. She was also a great-grandmother to eight, Mia and Beau Schneider, Peter Crawford, Mason Erdmann, Truett, Tatum, Teddy Chose and Beau Ritenour. Also survived by sister, Linda (Mankamier) Woodill. Joan was a 1931 graduate of Somerset High School. For many years, Joan was a homemaker before becoming a teacher's aide at the Laurel Valley Elementary School. She enjoyed shopping, playing games and cards, including her weekly game night. In the last year and a half of her life at The Addison of McCullough Place, she made many new friends including special friends, Pat and Janet, and she enjoyed all of the activities and entertainment. We thank everyone there for taking such good care of our mom. At Joan's request, there will be no public services. The family is being served by the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland.
