Johnstown, Pa - Dallape - Joanne Rose (DeMarco), 91, (December 11, 1933-December 4, 2025) Heritage Ridge Senior Living Center, formerly of Ferndale. Went on her journey back to God, just days short of her 92nd birthday, surrounded by her loving family. Joanne was a 1954 graduate of Windber High School and a 1957 graduate of the Windber School of Nursing from which she earned a Registered Nursing degree after two years of course and hospital work at Windber Hospital, and one year doing rotations at hospitals in Philadelphia. After graduating, she moved to Bethesda, Maryland, and worked at the National Institutes of Health doing research during her time there on sickle cell anemia. Returning to Windber, she worked at the hospital's Wing Two for 25 years, specializing in geriatrics. In 1984, Joanne went to work for Community Nursing Service as a visiting nurse. She retired from that position in 1994. Retirement did not agree with her, so she worked part-time in her late 60s, 70s and 80s at the Lutheran Home and then at the Presbyterian Home. After 50 years of nursing, she finally retired officially in 2015. She was a dedicated and excellent nurse. Joanne is preceded in death by her husband, Edward D. She also has four grandchildren who she cherished: Edward Joshua Dallape, Julianne Nicole Dallape, Isabelle Faith Dallape, and Kelsey Brooke Korns. Joanne is also survived by these special nieces: Renee Dallape Santa, Maria DeMarco, Theresa Kerekes, all of Johnstown, and Dr. Kathleen Ann Cashman, of Pittsburgh. She also had the blessing of numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews whom she loved. She never forgot a birthday. She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Mildred Dallape (Joseph), of Bradenton, Fla., and Barbara Dallape (Raymond) of Johnstown. She leaves behind her dedicated personal caregiver for the past two and one-half years, Connie Lamer. Member of the St. Andrew's Church choir for many years, Joanne was also of member of the Church's Ladies Guild. She and Ed were members at St Andrew's for 50 years. She volunteered at Windber Hospital's hospice for many years.
