New York, New York - Basko - John S. III, 73, New York, N.Y., formerly of Johnstown, Pa., went home to be with the Lord June 28, 2026. Born April 29, 1953, in Cambria County, son of John S. Basko, Jr. and Eleanor (Hamzik) Basko-Rodgers. Preceded in death by parents and brother-in-law, Rodney Stork. Survived by sisters: Nedra Dressick, Johnstown; Deborah Stork, Florida; brothers: Gerald Basko (Audrey Augustine) Johnstown; William Basko, Hazelton; family friend: Deborah Katrancha, Johnstown; nieces: Nadine Dressick (Robert Vatavuk), Johnstown; Kalie Basko, Hazelton; nephews: Donald Misuraca (Katie Revier), New Jersey; Daniel Misuraca, Florida; Scott Dressick (Susan Lavely), Johnstown; great-nieces: Morgan Dressick (Matthew Porter), Johnstown; Trista Vatavuk, New York; Tara Vatavuk, Pittsburgh; Ariana Dressick, Johnstown; great-nephews: Ben Vatavuk (Ashley Turbutt), Maryland; Austin Dressick, Georgia; Nicholas Dressick, Johnstown; several great-great-nieces and nephews. John graduated Richland High School in 1971 and was a talented photographer, beginning his career at WTAJ moving onto NBC allowing him to travel the world and providing him with many great adventures that he happily shared with others. He was also a gifted artist along with being an exceptional and entertaining storyteller. John was the author, director and producer of a short film, "A Carburetor for Suzy," which after premiering in New York, became a huge hit in China, John's calm, honest listening skills and his unique views on life will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A special prayer to Trista and Danny who were there for John during his illness. Services will be at the convenience of the family.
