Clarion, Pa - Como - John J., 86, of Clarion, formerly of Indiana, and Marion Center, passed away on Monday December 2, 2025, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca, Pa.

He was born on March 5, 1939, to John Richard and Edna Mae Clendenning in East Liverpool, Ohio.

John was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Indiana. He was a graduate of East Liverpool High School in 1958. John attended Duquesne University. John worked as a journalist for The Tribune-Democrat, Johnstown, and the Indiana Gazette. John was also a longtime member of the Groundhog Polka Dance Club, the Slovenian Polka Dance Club and a member and three term President of the Indiana Ballroom Dance Club. Many from the Barnesboro/Spangler area may also remember him as an active participant in the Jaycees or may have seen him ringing the bell for the Salvation Army every winter.

He is survived by his children, Amy Como and her fiancé Shawn Zerfoss, Joel Como and his wife Lisa, Elana Como, and Stephen Como and wife Lorilei; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Roland Shannonhouse, Angela Vakiner and her husband Bryan, Matthew Arthurs and his wife Abbi, and Cayla Arthurs and her significant other Brent Stiles; a great-grandchild, Margaret Mary Vakiner; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Betty, Connie, Jim, Michael and Sue.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, December 09, 2025, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home, 898 Old Rt. 119 N., Indiana, Pa. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church, 200 Clairvaux Drive, Indiana, Pa. 15701.
