Loretto, Pennsylvania - CONRAD - John J. "Jack," 94, of Loretto, died Dec. 17, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Feb. 16, 1931, in Ashville, son of the late Walter and Nora (Krise) Conrad. Preceded in death by wife, the former Mary "Rose" (Schenk) Conrad; infant children, Mary Teresa and James; grandson, Ethan Sumner; sons-in-law, Leroy Prosser, Raymond Hollen, and Larry Sumner; and siblings: Clair, Bernard Ralph, Joseph Clyde, Paul Walter, Leo and James Clyde; and sisters: Mary "Mae" Truax, Ruth Barnett, Margaret Doris Lamont, Jane Sheehan, Theresa Callahan, Betty Koegler, Shirley Delegram and Mary "Patty" Resick. Survived by children: Darlene Prosser, John W. "Jack" (Janet Ivory), Nancy Hollen, Bill (Betty Klemann), Nora (Tom) Hilyer, Joan Sumner, and Don (Mary Pennabaker); 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Last member of his immediate family. Numerous nieces and nephews, especially Audrey Venesky, and family friend, Bob (the builder) Vinglish. Jack was a pillar in his family, to his friends and in the community. After his retirement from Bethlehem Steel, he filled many days helping his sons in the family business. He shared his wisdom of all things to those around him - from carpentry to hunting, playing poker or shooting pool he always leant a helping hand. He genuinely gave his love to all around him. He could often be found telling stories or giving advice to the next generations. He was a rock, the keeper of all things - secrets, traditions and wisdom. His gentle quietness could be applied in any situation and is something everyone should aspire to. The life he built with his love Rose was the treasure he valued most. Lifelong member of Chest Springs Sportsmen's Association, served on Chest Springs town council as secretary treasurer, and St. Monica's Catholic Church, where he served on the picnic committee and the Holy Name Society. Friends will be received at St. Monica's Catholic Church, Chest Springs, from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec 22, the Rev. Justin Treon, celebrant. Interment in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Carmelite Monastery of St. Therese of Lisieux, Loretto, PA, in Jack's memory.
