John was a groomsman in my wedding, a continuous friend until his death, a Lycoming College classmate, and a fellow believer in Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I will miss him dearly here on earth, but anticipate seeing him again as we spend eternity in the presence of our risen Lord, Jesus Christ.
After Lycoming we spent many hours together, in phone conversations, and emails. He had me stay with him and his children, Missy and John, when I umpired the AAABA baseball tourney at Point Stadium, and when my wife and I would visit him occasionally. On one visit he insisted we experience sleeping on his brand new water bed.😎 we never stopped staying in touch. We golfed together, laughed o
...ften, shared meals together, attended Johnstown Jets games together at the downtown rink, watched Geordie Howe play in Johnstown, and introduced me to Paul Newman’s brother, who closely resembled me to the point that during the filming of Slap Shot (the movie made in Johnstown) he had me sign autographs for people who thought I was Arthur Newman. What a true friend I had in John. I will miss him very much.
