John W. Dickert Obituary

Ebensburg, PA - 96, resident of Maple Heights Health and Rehab, formerly of Nanty Glo, passed away September 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born August 21, 1929, in Seward, the son of Thomas and Frances (Yeager) Dickert. He is preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Lois L. (Divido) Dickert; brothers, Raymond, Royston, and Thomas Dickert; and sisters, Helen Schafer, Anna Mary Ashcraft, Rita Howard, and Evelyn Francis. Survived by his loving children, William (Nancy) Dickert; Michael (Cynthia) Dickert; Susan (John) Slonka; and James (Karen) Dickert; grandchildren, Daniel (Jennifer), Jessica (Wayne), Steven ( Georgi), Samantha (Jordan), Kevin (Kelli), Kelli (Shane); step-grandchildren, Zachary and Tatianna; great-grandchildren, Riley, Ryan, Liev, Dominic, and Martin; sisters, Lucille Badowski and Elizabeth Wasilko; brother James Dickert; and numerous nieces and nephews. John was a "jack of all trades". John went on to work at the Steel Mill in Lorain, Ohio and after moving back to Pennsylvania went on to operate Dickert Coal Yard, he was the owner and operator of Dickert Garage in Tanneryville. John later retired at 72 as the owner and operator of Dickert Excavating and Paving. John was a proud United States Marine Corps Veteran, having served his country from 1951 to 1954. John also loved watching old John Wayne movies and spending time with his family. The family would like to especially thank the employees and aides at Maple Heights for their continued care and dedication to John over the last 12 years. John was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He will truly be missed by many. Friends will be received Friday, September 12, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc. Funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. Friday September 12, 2025, Rev. John Harrold. Private committal will be held at a later date.
