BELTZ - Joseph Edward "Junior" "Boom Boom" or "Big Joe," 73, Davidsville, formerly of Vintondale, passed away peacefully Feb. 9, 2012, at home. Born April 20, 1938, in Vintondale, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Telesko) Beltz. Survived by daughter, Sharon; granddaughter, Katie; son-in-law, Ed; brothers, Jerry (Patty), James (Annamae) and Denny (Darlene); numerous other family members; and many lifelong friends, especially Barbara Simoncini and Pam Beltz. Joe grew up in Vintondale, having graduated from Vintondale High School. After graduation, he joined the Navy and upon leaving the service, he relocated to the San Francisco Bay area and went to work for Lockheed and then Philco Ford. His work enabled him to travel the globe and to visit and live in many different parts of the world. This provided for many unique experiences and for some great stories. Shortly after his retirement from Loral Aerospace, Joe returned to Pennsylvania to be closer to his family. Joe will always be remembered for his love of sports and in particular, his beloved Steelers, Pirates and Penguins. He also will be remembered for his kind, gentle nature and positive outlook on life. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Nanty Glo, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Deacon Thomas Buige, officiating. Interment, Lloyd Cemetery.
