Portage, Pennsylvania - Mackovyak - Kathryn "Kush," 95, Jamestown, Portage Township, went to be with the Lord Feb. 23, 2025, at Maple Heights Nursing Care Center, Ebensburg, Pa. Born Feb. 13, 1930, in Michigan, the daughter of Frank and Catherine (Starchville) Zock. Deceased family members include her parents; husband, John "Shatie" Mackovyak; son-in-law, Robert Walls; grandson, Adam Walls; sister, Agnes Tomasko; and brother-in-law, John "Ike" Tomasko; nephew, Damian, and niece, Dawn; sister, Anna Zock; sister, Josephine Russ; brother-in-law, Ed Russ; and nephew, Gary; brothers, Frank (Ferp) Zock Jr.; Leo Zock; sister-in-law, Ann; sister, Irene Lidwell; brother-in-law, Leo Lidwell; nephew, Montgomery, and niece, Denise; sister, Esther Sabala; brother-in-law, Tony Sabala; brother, Stanley Zock and sister-in-law, Helen; brother, Chester Zock and nephew, Thomas; brother-in-law, David Rohrabaugh and niece, Debbie; and infant sister, Blanche Zock. Survived by son, Jonathan Mackovyak and wife Deborah, and daughter, Kathleen "Kathy" Walls. She was the loving grandmother to Jason Mackovyak and wife Krista; great-granddaughter, Olivia, and great-grandson, Jase; grandson, Justin and wife Shari; great-grandson, Jacob, and great-granddaughter, Jenna; granddaughter, Amanda and husband, Wade Maul and great-grandchildren, Bailey, Hunter, Kelsey; and Brinley Maul. Also survived by sisters, Regina Gillin and Delores Rohrabaugh; and sister-in-law, Faye Zock; and numerous nieces and nephews. Kush was a master seamstress at K & B Sportswear. Former president of the Polish Women's Alliance and a lifelong member of SS. Peter and Paul Church, where she cleaned and dressed the altar for many years. She was an avid gardener who also enjoyed playing pinochle and visiting casinos. Kathryn will be remembered for her kindness, devotion to her family, and love for community. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed. Friends received from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Serenko Claar Funeral Home, PC, Portage, where Parastsas will be sung at 6 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at SS.
