75 of Lilly. passed away March 22, 2018 at his home. He was born December 22, 1942 in Lilly and was the son of Michael and Anna Belle (Scratchard) Devett. Preceded in death by parents and siblings; sisters Margaret Kause, Patricia Thorn and Agnes Abbotts; brothers William, James, Alfred, Donald and Charles. Survived by son Leslie E. Jr. and wife Monica (Mulholand) Devett and Gens's pride and joy, his grandson Michael who spent every Friday with his grandfather. Also sister Dorothy and husband Bob Evers and sister-in-law; Loretta (Skip) Devett and Rose Ann (Dolly) Devett. Gene enjoyed having lunch with his special friends eating lunch daily with Bill and Alb Claar, Scott Selip, Tim Adams, Tim Watt, Ted Beck and Dan and Claudine Falger and many other friends. He was a post member of Lilly American Legion Post 628: past supervisor for Lilly Washington Township. At the request of the deceased there will be no viewing or visitation. Memorial services will be held 10 am Saturday April 7, 2018 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Cleveland Street, Lilly by Rev. Walter Startzel. Committal, Lillydale Cemetery, Lilly. Military gravesite rites by Lilly veterans organizations. Thomas F. Cloherty Funeral Home, Lilly is assisting the family.
