Linda M. Karosic
Karosic, Linda Marie, (born Kirkpatrick) passed away on August 25, 2019 at her beloved home surrounded by her loving family. Linda is survived by her husband of 38 years, Richard; four daughters, Lacy, Laura, Lila, and Laina; and her granddaughter, Claire. She touched countless lives during her time on earth. Born on December 10, 1950 in Camp Hill, Linda was a 1968 graduate of Trinity High School. She received an associate degree from York Academy of Art. When she was 19, she moved to Johnstown where she enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown where she completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology. During this time, she worked for 19 years at the Hiram G. Andrews Center helping adults with mental and physical disabilities. In Johnstown, she met her future husband at his sawmill, purchasing wood from him to heat her little house. She was a volunteer for the Windber Public Library where she initiated the Coffee & Conversation Program. She was a volunteer for the Windber PTO and school board, and a volunteer driver for the Koot Karts. She worked tirelessly for the Somerset County Blind Center for 12 years helping others with vision limitations. Linda had an amazing ability to not only lift herself up in times of trouble, but to lift others up as well. She was light, love, and joy. She radiated unyielding strength, constant curiosity, fierce courage and uninhibited silliness, despite the challenges of her life. Linda loved to read on her deck in the summer, sing at the top of her lungs in the car, be with her girls, and was never too cool to be ever-impressed by the awesomeness and magic of the universe. Her legacy of wonderment lives on through the lives of her children. The Karosic family is forever grateful for the care provided by Dr. Sbeitan, whom she had deep respect for and was shown the same, and the entire Conemaugh Cancer Center Staff, including the Valet crew. The family also thanks the Palliative Care Unit at Conemaugh and the Windber Hospice staff for their genuine care and support during such a difficult time. In lieu of flowers, pay it forward as Linda would. Plant a tree, go outside, or spend time with someone you love. "For small creatures such as we, the vastness is bearable only through love. We're made of star stuff. We are a way for the cosmos to know itself." - Carl Sagan The family will be holding a celebration of Linda's life on Friday, August 30th at Simple Alternatives funeral home 717 Main St. Windber from 2-4pm. There will be a short ceremony from 2 - 2:30 followed by a gathering of friends and family.

Hi Richard & Girls: Lacy, Laura, Lila, Laina & Claire!
Please accept my deepest condolences & prayers for all of you as you adjust to the absence of your Beloved Linda!
Linda was a unique & special woman. I remember the first time I met her with Richard at St. Michael's Church in West Salisbury, PA. She was dresses in a flowing gown-like dress with a lovely hat. She brought a picnic basket & we had a wonderful meal outside of the rectory there. Her charm & spirit were so natural & beautiful. We planned their wedding @ the smallest church in West VA. That sunrise wedding was awesome...a first for me.
I'm certain that right now Linda is dancing with the angels before Our Heavenl
...y Lord & asking Him to shower His Blessings upon you all & all her friends & loved ones.
God bless you all & comfort you! May the Lord's Peace be with you all!

I had the Great Pleasure of working with Linda for 9 years. She was one of the best coworkers I ever worked with. I have so many fond memories of us two working together. She could defuse any situation within minutes. I miss me joking with her, & her calling me a pickle. There are so many memories that I could type a short story. I LOVED Linda Karosic, & her memories will stay with me forever.
