Martha Janet Stoy
83, Windber, passed away September 11, 2019, a resident of Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, formerly of Windber, Richland and Pittsburgh. Janet was born in Ashville on February 13, 1936 to Russell and Julia (Lidwell) Stoy. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, infant brothers Donnie Ray, Joseph Raymond and George, brothers Roger and Russ, sisters Margaret and Dorothy and special friend T.J. She is survived by loving sisters Marie Geisel, Catherine Stoy, Regina Nosal, Judie Engbert, Jackie Fetchko, Bonnie Stoy, sisters-in-law Joanne Stoy and Mary Jo Stoy and numerous loving nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews and cousins. Janet was a graduate of Windber High School, studied at Allegheny Community College, a U.S. Navy and Army veteran and retired from the City of Pittsburgh Law Department. Janet was a devout, kind and gentle woman, who loved her Catholic religion and Irish heritage and was very proud of her military service. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend, who dearly loved her family, enjoyed music and dancing, "old" television programs, Kentucky Fried Chicken and appreciated the beauty of the sky, trees and all of nature. Family will receive friends at the William Kisiel Funeral Home, Windber, on Sunday, September 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. and where vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Windber and where Military Honors will be held by the Windber VFW Ritual Team. Reverend Roderick N. Soha, T.O.R., Celebrant. Interment, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Cemetery, Ashville. Janet's sisters want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staffs of Ground East of the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home and her former residence at Richland Woods for preserving her dignity and providing loving and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any U.S. Veterans organization. Be kind and patient to those who don't remember as they used to and always remember to tell them "I Love You".
