Pompano Beach, FL - IKENBERG - Maxine (Horoff), of Pompano Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on Nov. 13, 2025. She was born on March 4, 1933, in Johnstown, PA, to the late Harry and Ruth (Schmerin) Horoff. Maxine is preceded in death by the love of her life, husband, William (Bill); brother, Marvin Horoff; sister-in-law, Peggy Horoff; brother-in-law, Lester Goldstein; and nephew, Irving Goldstein. Maxine is survived by her sister, Janice Goldstein; nieces, Brenda Amy, Natalie Goldstein, and Harriet Gustafson; nephew, Jeff Horoff; and great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. As well as dear longtime friends, who she loved like family, Maria Zamora, and Bryan and Erick Mendez. Maxine was a graduate of Westmont Hilltop High School and The Pennsylvania State University graduating with a BS degree in education. Maxine was employed as an elementary education teacher with Pittsburgh public schools retiring in 1981. Maxine was one of the most positive people you will ever meet. She was kind and generous. Maxine loved people and her favorite thing to do was to socialize. Maxine also found joy in reading, shopping, watching movies, and playing Mahjong. Maxine was one of a kind and will be dearly missed by all those who were fortunate to know her. As per Maxine's request, a private graveside service will be held at Grandview Cemetery. John Henderson Company Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
